From Regulation to Deal | Export Controls, Capital and Transactions

Date
17 November
Time
10:00 a.m., followed by lunch
Place
Svalner Atlas Gothenburg, Stora Nygatan 33

If you run, buy, sell or invest in companies with products, technology or components that may be subject to export controls, the Swedish playing field has changed. What used to be a compliance matter is now increasingly what decides whether a deal closes.

Svalner Atlas, together with Morris Law and Kroll, invites you to a morning seminar at our office in Gothenburg.

What you will take away

  • A new interpretation of dual-use items and new rules for military equipment. Following recent case law from the Court of Justice of the EU, the scope of dual-use items may be significantly broader. In addition, the new Swedish national rules on military equipment are aligned with NATO and bring, among other things, certain reductions of the requirement to hold your own manufacturing licence. The rules on notifications concerning tenders and agreements have also been simplified. Stricter penalties and increased sanction fees are being introduced, alongside new provisions on remission.
  • US rules reach further than you think. If your company has US content, US technology or US owners, US regulations may apply to you as well.
  • Deals get stuck in review. FDI screenings, export licences and regulatory issues affect a growing number of transactions. We go through where the risks arise and how they can be managed in time.

This seminar is for you who

  • own or lead a company that manufactures or supplies dual-use items or military equipment
  • are a CFO or compliance lead who needs to know what the new rules require
  • acquire or sell companies in industry, technology or defence
  • have US components, technology or owners in your business
  • work with dual-use items, military equipment or compliance issues
