How was the secondment?
It was great! My Dutch colleagues were very welcoming and supportive. Amsterdam is a fantastic city, vibrant and beautiful. Outside of work, I had the chance to explore Amsterdam’s great food scene, the beautiful tulip fields, and the national holiday King’s Day, when the entire city was dressed in orange.

What made you consider a secondment?
I saw it as a fantastic opportunity to get to know my colleagues in Amsterdam better, while also getting to experience a new city. It felt like an exciting challenge to work in a new country and learn the working methods at another workplace with new colleagues.

What have you learned?
It was interesting to gain insight into Dutch tax law and analyse the similarities and differences between Sweden and the Netherlands. Identifying how similar issues are approached through different methods and being faced with new questions has helped me grow more independent.

How will this experience contribute to your work when you return to Stockholm?
Being on secondment is an exercise in independence and taking responsibility for my own development, and I believe it has made me more confident in facing future challenges. Having had the opportunity to get to know my colleagues at Atlas over an extended period has also been valuable for building strong relationships, which I believe will be helpful in future cross-border work within Svalner Atlas.
