What made you apply for Talent Day?
I had heard many positive things about Svalner Atlas from both friends and colleagues, which sparked my interest in the firm. When I saw the announcement for Talent Day, I felt it was the perfect opportunity to get to know the firm and its people firsthand.
What was your first impression of the day?
My first impression of the day was that it combined the best of both worlds: a challenging case study that provided insight into the work itself, and a more informal setting during lunch, the activity, drinks, and dinner. It was also a great opportunity to meet many of the colleagues I work with today.
What part of the day stood out the most?
In my view, the highlight of the day was the dinner at Rijks, a well-known restaurant in Amsterdam. By that point, the case study had been completed, and the informal atmosphere gave everyone the opportunity to talk about topics beyond work while enjoying great food and drinks. It was a fantastic way to get to know the people around me on a more personal level.
How did Talent Day influence your decision to join Svalner Atlas?
After Talent Day, I started reflecting on how important it is to work with people you enjoy being around. With that in mind, Svalner Atlas seemed like an excellent place to start my career.
What has your journey looked like since then?
Since then, I first completed an internship with the M&A team and, following a successful internship, was offered a full-time position. I have now been with the firm for around three months and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. In addition, I feel that I have already learned a great deal about the profession in a relatively short period of time.
What would you say to someone considering applying this year?
I would highly recommend applying. Not only will you learn something new, meet interesting people, and gain valuable insight into where you might want to start your career, but it is also simply a really enjoyable day. Personally, I’m very glad that I decided to apply, as it ultimately led me to a workplace where I genuinely enjoy what I do and the people I work with.

What made you apply for Talent Day?
I was initially invited to Talent Day ahead of my summer internship at Svalner Atlas, so it felt like a natural first step before joining the team. Beyond that, I had already formed a positive impression of the firm through people in my network who spoke highly of it, which made me genuinely look forward to the day as a chance to meet my future colleagues and experience the culture firsthand.
What was your first impression of the day?
What struck me immediately was how well-structured the day was, with a solid case study that gave a genuine taste of the actual work, combined with a more relaxed programme around lunch, an activity, and dinner. Beyond that, I was quickly struck by how welcoming and approachable everyone from Svalner Atlas was throughout the day, which made the whole experience feel very natural from the start.
What part of the day stood out the most?
For me, the case study stood out the most. It was a substantial challenge that required genuine collaboration within the group to work through, and having guidance along the way from people at Svalner Atlas made it both more manageable and genuinely educational. That said, I would be doing the day a disservice if I didn’t mention the dinner at APO, which included great food, great company, and conversations that went well beyond the usual small talk.
How did Talent Day influence your decision to join Svalner Atlas?
During Talent Day and the subsequent summer internship, it became clear that the culture here was something I wanted to be part of, and that ended up being a significant factor in my decision. On top of that, I also got the impression that tax law is genuinely interesting in practice and not just as an academic subject.
What has your journey looked like since then?
As mentioned, I started out with a summer internship last year. Following that, I applied for a full-time role in one of the teams I had worked with during the internship, was offered the position, and have been part of the M&A Tax and PE group since January.
What would you say to someone considering applying this year?
Just apply. It is a day where you have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Regardless of the outcome, you will gain new knowledge, meet great people, and perhaps develop a clearer sense of where you want to take your career.
